This season of my life has been the busiest one yet. Sometimes, our responsibilities can make us feel like we’re in the middle of a tornado. One minute we’re trying to focus on one thing, and then all of a sudden something else gets blown our way. We can’t focus on doing one certain thing really well because our plate is too full for us to handle on our own.
I can’t handle all of the things I’ve got going on right now, and neither can you. But, I know Someone who can. I’m not the best at giving God all of my responsibilities. In fact, sometimes I even cling to my projects because I think I’ll do a better job with them than God can. How silly! The funny thing is when I don’t give the Holy Spirit room to move, everything I do turns out be a giant flop. Through this season, I’ve realized that I have to surrender my responsibilities to God daily because I don’t have the brain capacity or the physical ability to handle them alone. I find freedom when I surrender my daily tasks to Jesus. That’s what I challenge you to do each day before you even look at your phone and start thinking about the long list you have to have checked off by the end of the day. Allow the Holy Spirit room to move in your day. More room for the Holy Spirit means freedom from the stressful bondage of your heavy earthly tasks. When you’re focused on Jesus, you become lost in His overwhelming freedom.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
