The chime of the alarm clock goes off before the sun has even come up. We begin our day thanking the Lord for the day He has made, tossing vitamins in my toddler’s mouth, wrestling her into her car seat, and remembering to grab the right snack before we are off!
On our morning drive, we point out all the beautiful colors God painted on the sky and sing songs of love and adoration for Jesus. Sometimes we even replay the same song over and over because her voice just rings out so beautifully and I hear her say “again, Mommy!!” The drive ends with kisses goodbye for school and I’m off to work.
After a long day of learning, we recap all the things she has learned about Jesus and bring it home with us. We chose a while back to center TV time on faith based or clean content shows & movies, if we watch anything that day.

On other days, we make dinner together and sing worship songs.
My daughter has quickly learned that Jesus is a healer and anytime anyone has an issue her first response is, “Let’s pray about it! Jesus will heal you.” Did I mention she is only three? Between praying over our food and saying what we are thankful for, I go to bed knowing I am doing something right.
The endless love and truth I see pouring out of my child already blows me away. She pays attention when I fold my hands or lay them on someone in prayer and she quickly begins to copy my every move. I see how she speaks to her toys and her friends and it’s always out of kindness.
I choose to have Jesus at the center of my family because we are raising up a legacy rooted in Christ.

Miriam Penland is a wife and momma of a three-year old girl and two big cats, who think they are dogs. I currently work as a customer account manager in the construction industry for a company in the Carolina’s. My current hobby has been reading all the things I can get my hands on and if you know me, I was not a reader AT ALL. My happy place is sitting on a beach somewhere listening to the waves crash. I love community with friends and family, and I can spend time anywhere over a good cup of coffee or tea.
