Keep Hope Alive

April 17, 2019 by UnitedHouse Leave a Comment

“Quiet your heart in his presence and pray; keep hope alive as you long for God to come through for you.” Psalm 37:7 TPT

Have any of you prayed for something for what seems to be far too long? Are you like me, and after a while your prayers tend to lose their earnestness or they stop completely? This was the spot I once found myself in.

One night, I was just being honest with God as I was praying. I said to God, “Just listen; it hurts to keep praying this prayer, not ever knowing if you will answer me.” It seemed like I had prayed these prayers for so long and nothing happened. So that night, I was just having a conversation with God getting all of my feelings out. You can go to God with your disappointments and discouragements; He is a safe place!

What got me to the place I was in? I was discouraged, and that was when the negative thoughts began filling my mind. Things like, “Why do I keep praying for this?”, “It’s never going to happen,” and “Why would it happen to me? I don’t deserve it.” Even though some of these thoughts might feel true to me, they aren’t true to my Heavenly Father.

God reminded me of a few things in that moment. He never ceases to amaze me. These were things that I to be needed reminded of.

God is the God of hope.

“Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!” Romans 15:13 TPT

God cares about me.

“With your hand of love upon my life, you impart a blessing to me. This is just too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible! Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength.” Psalm 139:5-6 -TPT

We should pray without ceasing.

“Make your life a prayer. And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 TPT

God has forgiven me.

Any wrongs I have done in the past have been forgiven. They have been thrown into the sea of forgetfulness, so there are no wrongs being held against me.

“You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.” Micah 7:19 NIV

Friends, God might not answer some of our prayers in the way we want or in our time frame. Don’t allow discouragement to get you to a place of hopelessness. We need to keep our hope alive! God has a perfect plan for us, and we need to focus on what God is doing in our lives. We need to choose to keep our eyes and thoughts fixed on Him. Why? Because God is our God of hope. God cares for us. We can pray without ceasing, and God has forgiven us!

Testimonials

  • Taylor Phillips, author of Training Ground

United House Publishing was 100% an answer to prayer. I knew that God called me to write books, but I wasn't in a good position to publish according to certain industry expectations. I continued to be faithful, knowing God would make a way. AND HE DID. United House is such a champion for the underdog—for the one who doesn't have a huge platform but wants to be obedient to God. I was so blessed by the process from start to finish. From the heart and help of the revision team, to editing, coaching, and everything in between. United House was, and is, an incredible company to be part of!

United House Publishing is absolutely GREAT to work!  I previously published a book alone... and it was so hard.  But UHP gives support like no other!  When they say they are praying over you and your work, you KNOW it!  The author coaches I have worked with have been awesome.  Not only do they help you set and crush your writing goals, they also help you pursue wellness in all aspects of your life, and you can't put a price tag on that!

God gave me the words to write a book and then He sent me to the perfect place to publish it—United House Publishing! The thought of editing and publishing a book was new and overwhelming. However, through God's peace and directing me to UHP the whole process was made easier. I felt "safe" and "at ease" sharing the story God gave me to UHP, because they treated me and my manuscript with respect. I'm thankful I obeyed God and worked with UHP to publish my very first book.

As a person who has NEVER considered herself a writer, it is no shock I was in need of help when I felt led to publish my first book.  I am so blessed that I was referred to UHP.  I started my writing journey so afraid of the process, not sure where to start or what to expect. It was such a huge relief to have a team of authentic writers, editors, mentor me along the way as I pushed back fears of intimidation that tried to stop me.  With UHP I found my writing voice. The monthly coaching calls were especially important to keep me going when idleness or doubt crept in (because it will).  Having UHP to pray with me, refine my writing skills and keep me accountable made all the difference between beginning to write a book to actually finishing it!
