If you have been in the church, then you have heard “let there be light.” It is how God started creating the world and putting it into existence.
God created light with simple words as He spoke it into existence. How incredible is that? The creation of this world is the most excellent handiwork of the Lord besides creating man in His own image.
The astounding thing is how God created this world and then mankind in His image. It is powerful to know God spoke light into existence and separated day from night by simply speaking. His powerful words created this world to give us light. That is beautiful.
Have you ever thought about how God created light first before anything else?
And when God created man in His image, we were made as a reflection of who He is. And when something is a reflection it reflects light. That is how God sees us as a reflection of light, because Christ is in us.
When we realize we are a reflection of God’s light we no longer have to strive for God’s acceptance. Instead we rest in God’s grace knowing we are already accepted by God and are chosen to reflect His light.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. “And God said “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.”
Genesis 1:1-5 ESV
It is extravagant how God created this world and light. Out of God’s mouth light was formed and made me see this world is a reflection of God as well. The light God created He saw as good, just like He created us and saw we were good.
“And a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground—then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living creature.”
Genesis 3:6-7 ESV
“Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him. Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature that was its name. The gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to call upon the man, and while he slept took one of the his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
Genesis 3:18-23 ESV
God’s creation and creation of man is a beautiful reflection of light that casts a bright ray to show others His goodness. The Lord saw goodness in us and created us to reflect light. But He created light in this world so we can have light and not walk around in darkness. I hope you can see you are a reflection of God’s light and how He is well pleased with you.
