Thriving Through Transition

November 7, 2019 by UnitedHouse Leave a Comment

Today I noticed the sky. I mean I actually realized it was there. I was even taken off guard by this revelation. Yes, I know that big blue area above us is the sky. But, today I looked up out of my car windshield to see a vast layer of pale sapphire beauty and I sat at the stoplight in awe. Rows of stratus clouds seemed to line the heavens. This was the first time in a while I had been mesmerized by the all consuming Creation around me. Why was this? The Creation around me had not gone anywhere. I have been living in the midst of God’s handiwork all twenty-two years of my life. But, when I looked up out of my window today it was as if I was staring in the face of the Lord. That sounds completely ridiculous right?

The truth is I have been going through some transitions in my life. I know some of you out there can relate. This season has not been the most fun one I have ever walked through. Rather than walking through this season it feels like I have been falling downhill, then God will pick me up, dust me off, and gently hold my hand, but then I fall down again and He picks me right back up. The cycle has been ongoing. Looking up at that pale sapphire layer of beauty we call the sky today was one of those moments God was picking me back up again, gently grasping my hand, and guiding me back to the avenue He’s appointed for me.

He meets us right where we are at even if that place happens to be in the car on the way home from Starbucks. It was an unexpected moment of Him showing me His greatness. You see, the world around us may be spinning at a hundred miles an hour, but He stands firm. He is the rock that will never move. God has no intention of sitting on the throne and leaving us to figure out our lives by ourselves. No, He’s right there in the midst of our mess and ever changing worlds. God is our one constant. Everything in this life can be taken away, but He will never leave and can never be stolen from us.

For the next six weeks on the United House Publishing Blog we will be talking all about transition. We’re going to learn how to “Thrive Through Transition.” If you are feeling lonely today or dizzy from the fast spinning world around you, go listen to the song “Good and Loved” by Steffany Gretzinger and Travis Greene. Remember God is good and He loves you. He will always be beside you through every season to pick you up, dust you off, take you by the hand, and lead you back to Him.

Testimonials

  • Taylor Phillips, author of Training Ground

United House Publishing was 100% an answer to prayer. I knew that God called me to write books, but I wasn't in a good position to publish according to certain industry expectations. I continued to be faithful, knowing God would make a way. AND HE DID. United House is such a champion for the underdog—for the one who doesn't have a huge platform but wants to be obedient to God. I was so blessed by the process from start to finish. From the heart and help of the revision team, to editing, coaching, and everything in between. United House was, and is, an incredible company to be part of!

United House Publishing is absolutely GREAT to work!  I previously published a book alone... and it was so hard.  But UHP gives support like no other!  When they say they are praying over you and your work, you KNOW it!  The author coaches I have worked with have been awesome.  Not only do they help you set and crush your writing goals, they also help you pursue wellness in all aspects of your life, and you can't put a price tag on that!

  • Wendy Perry, author of The Battle Within

God gave me the words to write a book and then He sent me to the perfect place to publish it—United House Publishing! The thought of editing and publishing a book was new and overwhelming. However, through God's peace and directing me to UHP the whole process was made easier. I felt "safe" and "at ease" sharing the story God gave me to UHP, because they treated me and my manuscript with respect. I'm thankful I obeyed God and worked with UHP to publish my very first book.

  • Gina Rodriguez, author of Teacher Tired

As a person who has NEVER considered herself a writer, it is no shock I was in need of help when I felt led to publish my first book.  I am so blessed that I was referred to UHP.  I started my writing journey so afraid of the process, not sure where to start or what to expect. It was such a huge relief to have a team of authentic writers, editors, mentor me along the way as I pushed back fears of intimidation that tried to stop me.  With UHP I found my writing voice. The monthly coaching calls were especially important to keep me going when idleness or doubt crept in (because it will).  Having UHP to pray with me, refine my writing skills and keep me accountable made all the difference between beginning to write a book to actually finishing it!
