With great love
I am protected
As a child of God
I am saved
My sins are washed away
I am forgiven
My chains are broken
I am free
With great love
I am worthy
My faith restored
I am hopeful
My soul was broken
I am whole
Strength is renewed in me
I am stronger
With great love
I am learning
As a disciple of the Lord
I am leading
As the birds sing their songs
I am praising
For those that are needy
I am giving
With great love
I am full of love
And I know that
I am loved
There are many verses in the Bible that speak of love. One of my favourites is, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” John 3:16 NIV. God sacrificed his own flesh and blood for ALL others, not just those who were alive in the present day, but for all who would follow. But God didn’t stop there; through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, He has shown us time and time again that His love is unconditional, never ending and everlasting.
It doesn’t matter who we are, what we have done or what has happened to us. God’s love never changes; it never falters. As it says in Romans 8:38-39 NIV, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, not any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” There is nothing, absolutely nothing that can stop or separate us from God’s love.
But it doesn’t even stop there. It’s not just enough that we know about God’s love; we need to show others about God’s love too. There are many ways of doing this:
• Doing good things for others. Showing that you care.
• Showing compassion in difficult times and practising forgiveness.
• Loving your enemies, despite your differences.
• Spending time in nature and looking after God’s own creation.
• Self love and looking after yourself. By doing this, you are in a better position to help and love others.
By setting a good example with our words and actions, we can inspire others around us, especially children, to lead and live with love. This is the way that God wants us to be. As it says in 1 John 4:12 NIV, “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” Just as we cannot see the wind, but we can see the trees and grass moving with it, let us move with God’s love and show everyone around us how wonderful it is.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your amazing and unconditional love. Thank You for showing us how to love others and how to love ourselves. We know that the ones that are the hardest to love are often the ones that need it the most. We pray that by Your will, they will come to know You and of Your great love. Amen.
