INTIMACY
Jesus at the centre to me means intimacy. This means I am intentional about creating space to spend time with Jesus, just as He was intentional about creating space to spend time with God, who was at the centre of His life. “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35 NIV
LORDSHIP
Jesus at the centre to me means Lordship. This means I am allowing Jesus to lead and guide me just as Jesus allowed God, who was at the centre of His life, to lead and guide Him.
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19 NIV
SACRIFICE
Jesus at the centre to me means sacrifice. This means I am laying down my life for His cause, just as Jesus laid down His life for us as the Father directed, who was at the centre of His life. “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42 NIV
In short, Jesus at the centre to me means I am walking in a close relationship with Him, submitting to His Lordship, and laying down my life for His cause.
I believe Jesus Himself best modeled what it was like to have Him at the centre by the way He had God, the Father at the centre. So, when I am imitating how Jesus lived on earth as His disciple, I have Him at the centre.
