What Dreams are Made Of

dreams quote

What’s got you in a slump right now? What’s making you feel stuck? It seems as if our lives get so task-driven that we slowly and gradually get drawn into stagnation. Of course, tasks aren’t always a bad thing. Goals are great, and tasks are essential in life, but, in our first-world, westernized society, it seems like we forget the importance of building relationships and seeking our true passions. I am guilty of this, and I know that most of America is as well. Once we hit college graduation, maybe even before, we stop dreaming. “Real life” gets in the way, and suddenly we just have to have enough money in our bank accounts to pay the bills. In the meantime, dreams are put on hold and eventually fade away.

We fill our schedules from 8:00 AM all the way to bedtime every single day, but I had a revelation in my own life recently: How is God going to bless a path He didn’t call me to? How is He going to move in my life if I’m not intentional about seeking Him? How is He to move in your life if you’re not making your schedule according to Him? Of course He’s the Almighty and He can move anywhere at anytime despite any of the barriers we put up, but if we have a dream, we have to first decide to obey and be faithful.

Do it afraid.

Friend, the only way to set your dream in motion is by faith in Jesus. If you have a calling given to you by God, the only way to see it come to fruition is to step out. As cheesy as it may sound, you have to step out in faith. You have to do it afraid. You can’t wait until you’re not scared anymore because then it simply will never happen.

Trust me, you won’t be able to get away from it if it’s a calling from God. That’s how you’ll know. It’ll stay right on top of your shoulder until you decide to obey. The Holy Spirit won’t let you run away. Pursuing your dreams isn’t a cliche. God set dreams and passions inside of each and every person when He so lovingly knit us together.

As the old Veggie Tales saying goes, God made you special. He truly did. Godly dreams and desires are meant to become a reality. Therefore, the passion that stirs up inside you is meant to be acted upon. What if that passion you have is really a calling you’re sitting on? What if that dream is supposed to spark the journey God has called you to? First, we have to obey and step out in faith. Whatever your dream, whatever your passion, step out today and do it afraid.

Testimonials

  • Taylor Phillips, author of Training Ground

United House Publishing was 100% an answer to prayer. I knew that God called me to write books, but I wasn't in a good position to publish according to certain industry expectations. I continued to be faithful, knowing God would make a way. AND HE DID. United House is such a champion for the underdog—for the one who doesn't have a huge platform but wants to be obedient to God. I was so blessed by the process from start to finish. From the heart and help of the revision team, to editing, coaching, and everything in between. United House was, and is, an incredible company to be part of!

United House Publishing is absolutely GREAT to work!  I previously published a book alone... and it was so hard.  But UHP gives support like no other!  When they say they are praying over you and your work, you KNOW it!  The author coaches I have worked with have been awesome.  Not only do they help you set and crush your writing goals, they also help you pursue wellness in all aspects of your life, and you can't put a price tag on that!

  • Wendy Perry, author of The Battle Within

God gave me the words to write a book and then He sent me to the perfect place to publish it—United House Publishing! The thought of editing and publishing a book was new and overwhelming. However, through God's peace and directing me to UHP the whole process was made easier. I felt "safe" and "at ease" sharing the story God gave me to UHP, because they treated me and my manuscript with respect. I'm thankful I obeyed God and worked with UHP to publish my very first book.

  • Gina Rodriguez, author of Teacher Tired

As a person who has NEVER considered herself a writer, it is no shock I was in need of help when I felt led to publish my first book.  I am so blessed that I was referred to UHP.  I started my writing journey so afraid of the process, not sure where to start or what to expect. It was such a huge relief to have a team of authentic writers, editors, mentor me along the way as I pushed back fears of intimidation that tried to stop me.  With UHP I found my writing voice. The monthly coaching calls were especially important to keep me going when idleness or doubt crept in (because it will).  Having UHP to pray with me, refine my writing skills and keep me accountable made all the difference between beginning to write a book to actually finishing it!
